Hello. I posted this in another section, but maybe its better suited for this section.

I searched the forum a little, but I couldnt find this info. I was wondering if anyone knows if the garmin boundary waters software shows the lake depth contours for Quetico. The description says that it has the lake depth countours, but it does not specify if that is the boundary waters and quetico. I know some other softwares such as the red pine mapping only have the lake depth countours for the boundary waters side.

thanks
pete

I've got this map set and it looks like the lake depth info is only for the U.S. Below is a screen shot from my computer of a section of the map set around Basswood - lake depth contours south of the border, but not north. It's a useful map set for other purposes though!

Sadly, the lake depths and their contour lines are a state secret of the Canadian Govt. They're just not available anywhere.

The Garmin Upper Midwest Fishing Guide chip in my 62st shows depths mapped over just *slightly* more area than Ho Ho's map shows here. As an example around Basswood: all of Ranger Bay, up to Neil Island and the south shore of White Island, all of Big Merriam Bay, Sunday Bay, etc. All in 10-ft intervals. I've found that to be the chip's standard coverage... a bit past the border and that's it.
