I read a walleye recipe online called "blackened walleye" and it involved grilling a filet dipped in melted butter, seasoned with garlic powder, salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper. I'm buying a double pie iron (wide enough to make two sandwiches with no divider meaning one compartment) because for one thing I really like making hot ham and cheese sandwiches in them, and another, I'd like to try preparing walleye in them using recipes which seem suitable for it such as the one above. I've never heard of anyone using a pie iron to cook walleye before. Has anyone else? How well do you think it would work?
I need to get a pie iron. I like all the deserts you can make with them and haven't used one since my boy scout days. I don't have an answer for you regarding fish but thank you for adding to my wish list. :)
When you do the fish line the pie iron with some aluminum foil. It'll be easier clean up and won't stick to the iron. There are lots of great pie iron recipes on line just Google it.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, and should cook up pretty fast! But I agree, line with foil so that future ham & cheese and dessert s don't have a fishy flavor.
