I am taking my son on his first trip to Quetico- the last week of June. He has a couple trips to bwca, but wanted an easy Quetico trip this year- picked Carp area. I've never done more than paddle across the south part of Carp headed for Knife. I'd appreciate any fishing advice for Carp & also for possible day trips to Emerald, Sheridan, Crawford, Beaver & Fisher. Feel free to email me if you prefer not to post publicly. He's never fished for or gotten any lakers, and would like to get 1 or 2 for him. We will release all big fish not mortally hooked. Thanks in advance for any help!

Carp has good fishing for Smallies, Largemouth, Northern, Walleye and I believe Lakers.
I've base Camped on Birch and fished Carp quite a bit with a RABC, Canadian License, and an Ontario Parks Pass.
I've even made it to Emerald on day trips. The fishing on Fisher is pretty good. I caught my largest Northern Pike there, and I even remember using some packaged mealworms ( before the bait bans), and a small hook and bobbers made of twigs to literally DESTROY the perch on that lake. We took a limit for shorelunch quite a few years ago.
Hope you have fun.

I've hit smallmouth and walleye on Carp Lake and also on day trips into Sheridan and Emerald.

What others have said and might add that Carp has a reputation with "insiders" of being a great walleye lake. (I only caught smallies and pike when I fished there.) Check out Polaris (a liftover west of Birch) for lots of SMB action, if not good sizes. That's all I can say online. --Goose
Soloing is sweet, but a good partner is "priceless."

Have fished Carp several times, mostly in the bay leading to Sheridan. Not much luck, but two years ago a couple of my crew went back out at dusk and caught the biggest smallmouth I've ever seen. Emerald is a pretty lake with decent pike action.

I think that it got (incorrectly?) named for the STACKS of suckers in that lake.

I did receive your email & appreciate any info! I was unable to get email or respond before.
