You had a lot of adventure packed into 4 days. Love the moose sightings. Sorry to hear of the canoe dumping. I'm sure the water was cold but at least the air had warmed up some. I was just on that island site on Phoebe about a week ago. Those rocks are a great spot to dry out your stuff. I admire your taking on the challenge of a trip at that time of year with the ice, and still some snow, to deal with. Thanks for sharing.

Bapabear: I enjoyed seeing your pictures and noticed you stayed at that site. Sorry about the downed trees. I promise is wasn't us;) I think that site needed a little TLC after the winter.

Thanks for the report and pictures. The Lady Chain sounds (and looks) nice. I had considered it for this fall's trip, but we'll probably loop farther north this time. I'm glad you survived your dump without any great difficulty. They happen suddenly.

As beautiful as that site is it really did need some tender loving care! There were at least 3 larger trees that had been cut down and numerous smaller ones. One of the tent pads had a moose skull zip-tied to a tree. The one of us that took that pad cut it down and left the skull on the edge of the site. I was sad to see the trees down for no apparent reason and didn't feel the skull was a good "touch" to the site's atmosphere.
