Hello all,

I've searched the archives here, but I haven't been able to find any mention of pictographs on McAlpine Lake, even though some are marked on my McKenzie maps. Granted, the first five threads I checked that mentioned McAlpine and pictographs all were referring to the ones on Quetico, in the same general area.

Anyone seen the ones on McAlpine?

McAlpine Lake picto's are on the north shore line on a rock face tilted to the northwest. Using the PCD campsite "KY" as a reference, the location is to the west and prior to reaching the McAlpine portage to Batch. They are somewhat more vivid than shown in the picture, but it was an overcast day when I made this shot.

Thanks for sharing that, OF. I had no idea there were that many pictos around. There must be pictos on McAlpine, then...otherwise, I'm assuming they wouldn't be planning to publish a brochure about them. :)

We found the pictos on mcalpine, along the north shore after looking for about 30 minutes. Not spectacular but worth the effort.

Mcalpine is a very cool lake unlike most as it is surrounded by hills many birch trees are visable along these hills. The western end was good for moose viewing, low swampy area saw several cow moose with calves.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm looking at possibly doing a trip out of Nym this year, and I was thinking about heading over to McAlpine to see them. I hadn't heard much about them, and searching through the archives didn't bring up much.
