Sorry but you need to fix your links.

thanks for that report and the photos. the morning photo of your sleeping pads on the rock is great. there is really something special about finding the right tripping partner for the trip. would your normal group have appreciated, enjoyed or been on board for this trip ... the way it twisted and turned almost every day?

I've been to most of the same areas you've paddled in. I think it's cool you paddled during the dark. I've done that before and it is a unique experience-I enjoyed it too. You're photos were well done. So where to, next year?

Thank you for your interesting, well-written, and well-illustrated report. I enjoyed it very much.

I began the process of "simplifying" several years ago for the same reasons you cited. A big impetus for that was solo trips where there is no one else to share the load or the chores. "Cooking" dehydrated foods in a pouch and eating them out of the bag was one of the first changes. I haven't fished in two years now, which saves a fair amount of weight even on just a minimal kit. I haven't pitched a tent with just a tarp over it, but September trips aren't as conducive to that generally.

Thanks for taking the time to share your new experience and thoughts.

Very nice report. What days were you up there? We were on Crooked and Fourtown/Gun in mid-late August this year. Crooked was great, Fourtown was very busy. We had rain during the day a couple times so I'm guessing they weren't the same weeks....
