quote Moss Tent: "You realize this looks like a prank, right?
A better-than-even chance that it is falling back INTO the water, after having gotten off the stringer, maybe?"
I was thinking the same thing, those clip on stringers are great at releasing fish.

Now that ya mention it, a few of those walleyes do look over 20 inches, I can turn this photo in to the DNR Tips line and make a quick $500 and get that GLoomis rod I always wanted :)

Not to mention that it would not be a legal catch as he has an angling license...just as catching one with your bare hands (and keeping it) would be a no-no. I sure hope you threw it back...;-)
I'm just here to give my opinion...If you don't like it, ignore it.

Is that YOU in the photo?
or
YOU were taking the photo??
The fish fell into YOUR lap? Is that your lap while you were sitting on shore taking the photo???

It could be on the border waters, no 20" limit there....at least not yet. It could be from years gone by or from another state (no sticker on yak). It could be more than person have fish on the same stringer. Can't you just appreciate a good capture.
I have had schools of walleye follow a hooked walleye right up to the boat more than once.

Another good pic would b of the fish that landed in his lap added to the next available space on the stringer which would b up on the top . If they were put on in the order of being caught. Now that is a pic i'd like to see

Great photo! The timing is perfect!
I have had several smallies and northern attempt to jump in the boat before. Our last trip, my buddy caught a smallie on his lure that was hanging over the side of the canoe about a 6 inches out of the water. Strange things can and do happen!

I sort of get what you are saying, but I also think it is good to post awareness of the rules. It is certainly possible there was no violation but bringing it up is only going to educate others. I did enjoy the photo--but there is defintiely a "wait a second" double take if you know the rules. I personally see far too much ingnorance or indifference to the MN fishing regs. Not saying that is the case in this situation--I don't know? The 20 inch rule has been in affect for at least 7-8 years now.
Your examples are plausible reasons for the fish in the photo--maybe even they weren't 20" fish(although they look it), except the stringer example--in MN or Ontaro anyway. In MN or Ontario it is illeagal to possess other anglers fish. In a boat or 2-3 man canoe you can combine fish but not in a single passenger boat. Now a nice Game Warden may just do a warning if you are in a big group and no one else has fish, but they would also be well within their rights to levy a fine.

Im glad we have so many educated junior game wardens out there. PPPPPPP Pricks! Screw the 20" rule, thats why I only fish border waters so I can take out 26" to 32" walleyes and cut them into bite size pieces! Nice catch fishslayer!

OK, I have too much respect for some of you guys too mess around any longer. You guys pretty much have it figured out anyway. If you look at my left hand you can see that I am also holding a nylon stringer from another boat. We went out opposite ways after coffee and when I returned he was already back. He caught a few and I caught a few. I had him hand me his stringer.I told him to take the photo quick when I lifted it because it was heavy. When I lifted it, you guessed it,one of those metal clips popped open under the stress. We kept some for lunch and released the rest. I don't think I broke any laws except maybe the possession law when I was holding both stringers for the photo. You guys are also going to have to trust me when I tell you it was on the border because I can't prove it unless I take you to the photo spot. When I showed the photo to my wife she said it looked like the fish was jumping into the boat, so I blame the hoax on her. Women....
