I have heard from some people that they are having a hard time finding Zulus. Zulus are made by ZMANfishing and then resold by Strike King. Zman also sells Zulus, but they call them StreakZ, same exact lure as Zulu. The split tail version sold by Strike King is called Z Too. The split tail version sold by Zman is called ShadZ.

You can purchase the Strike King Z Too at tacklewarehouse.com

Tacklewarehouse

You can purchase the ZMAN StreakZ or ShadZ at zmanfishing.com

ZMANfishing

If you are in Ely, you can also buy these at Piragis Northwoods Co.

I've seen you talking about these a lot and I am one that has been looking for these ever since I heard about them. I have also read that you like the pearl with a darker color on top. Would that mean the smokey shad and the ice colors?

Thank you so much for posting the links.

I switch a lot to different pearl colored Zulus and I go through phases on what my favorite choice is. The gray glimmer pearl is a good one. The blue glimmer pearl, baby bass, plain pearl and the redbone are good too. Let me know if you have any other questions or need help finding any of these.

Here's an update on where to find these lures. I have had several people requesting my article on Zulu fishing and also wanting to know where to buy them from.

Don't buy them directly from ZMAN fishing.com, they charge too much for shipping. Buy them from either BassPro.com or Tacklewarehouse.com. I will provide links below.....

I got a pack of these in the blue glimmer pearl belly color. I'm not sure why they're "redfish magic" but they look the same as the other zulus so I'm hoping they'll do the trick.

Considering that just this last weekend I caught a pike, a crappie and a walleye all on a 1" trout spoon I think that perhaps the fish aren't quite as particular as the tackle retailers would have you believe.

The redfish magic lures are 6 inches long versus the standard 5 inches for the other lures. They should work all of the same.

I'm excited to finally be able to put your advice into practice!

Heres my take on it....

Since im usually making a trip to fleet farm in preparation for my trip, I have been useing kalins split tail shad jerk bait (widely stocked), which was successful and esentially the same shape and action. From my understanding the only difference is that the real deal zulus are made of a much more durable plastic that will last longer. My choice is mainly out of convenience.

As you said they are available at piragis in ely. I found myself killing time in ely on my last trip and saw the pictures of your smb along with the zulus for sale. I didn't buy them because I already had the kalins packed.

I hope to try the zulus later and compare.

Seems like Z Man stuff is showing up more and more in stores where I shop....

On a mid-winter ice-fishing trip, one of my friends said, "Hey make sure to bring those white shads with you when we go back to Canada this year."

QMike strikes again.

This question has been coming up to me a lot lately, so I thought I would just bump it back up again in case there are other people out there looking for these lures.

If you want to learn more about the Zulu rig, just send me an email at - queticomike@yahoo.com - and request the Zulu Magic article.
