In August four of us are taking the Geezer Passage going in at Beaverhouse, through Quetico, Jesse, Maria and out at Stanton Bay. Normally I wear Chota Caney Fork wading boots with Chota boot liners. I like the setup very well, especially when we are doing a lot of portaging on rough, wet terrain. I am wondering what the portages are like on this years route and are Solomon shoes or Keens alright to wear. Any advice is appreciated. Bill

I use Keens MacKenzies. I like them, but folks with weak ankles would want something with ankle support.

I'm not sure about this year but last year in mid August the Jessie and Maria portages had some pretty deep mud and water to them. I wear OTB Abyss 6 inch boots and it was over the top on them in lots of places and up to mid shin in just a couple of places.

Thanks for the reply. I will wear my boots and liners. I would imagine this year is as wet as last year. If there is mud on a portage in the area, I can always find it.

Good call! Being a geezer, I know I would.
