I've been thinking about undertaking a cedar strip canoe build. In my research I've seen a lot of posters here who have built their own canoes, and got to wondering if there are any strongbacks and/or forms collecting dust in anyone's garage. I'm mostly interested in a tandem build in the 16-18 ft range.
I've got a set of forms for David Hazens Micmac. It's a 17' tandem, 34" wide with 2" of rocker at each end. The shipping from MI. would cost more than they are worth though. I got the plans out of his book from the Library, after a strong recommendation from a member of the wooden boat forum suggested It. Good luck on your build.
I have a strong back and forms for a 38 special or your choice of forms. I picked it up last year for free from another BWCA.COM member hoping to use it if not I would pass it forward for free. So it's yours if you want to pick it up. We live in Inver grove heights.
I've got a strong back and forms for the Northwest Cruiser. I need to re-screw one of the legs, but it's good to go and has worked for boats up to 18.5 ft. I live in So. Mpls, but the things are in Bville. You're welcome to use all of it. I can help you set up, too.
