Hey paddlers, my name is Joel and I've been going to the Q since I was about 12. I'm 34 now and making my eleventh trip.
I'm headed into Lake William from the southwest side of the park. Just curious where everyone else is going for this years trip? And would love some advice on catching walleye and Lakers from areas near or on Williams?

Okie, After 21 Quetico trips, starting with a scout trip in 1967, I discovered this site about 5 years ago through a Google search for lake trout fishing in Quetico Lake. Has proven to be one of my favorites for advice and to discuss with many who share the appreciation for this beautiful park. I have even had several from this site join us on trips and this has allowed the meeting of new friends from Ohio, Moline, Illinois, and even as far away as Israel. Recommend you register in and participate for your enjoyment.

Been to the Q a few times myself. Last spring we looped in from Prairie Portage through Conmee and William, McIntyre, and back through Sarah.
Not a big fan of William. Marginal campsites and marginal fishing. My suggestion would be to spend your time on Brent instead! And McIntyre is just a couple short portages away.
Have a great trip!

A lot of folks like William. I also felt it is not the most attractive lake and I have not cared much for the campsites there. In fact for some reason I have found the lake to be sort of creepy, almost like it is haunted. The only lake in the BW/Q that I got that vibe from.
I don't fish but the guys I go with have had great success with the lakers---that I eat--- on the lakes that have been mentioned.

I accidentally posted the message below on another thread about the Kahs area...read that one too. go to Brent instead...
I checked my notes and have to correct myself when it came to William. I stand my statement on the poor campsite...although there WAS another occupied campsite on the north side of the lake that may have been good.
As far as fishing goes, on 6/9/15, my daughter caught a big walleye just minutes after leaving camp to fish in the afternoon, and I caught three walleye. We both caught smallmouth and she also caught a pike. Fishing is better than I remembered obviously, but I jotted down in my notes that William has very very dark water (which I do like), and is a flat, no-rock, featureless lake. The campsite was garbage filled but we cleaned it up before we left. I remember camping on the south short to the west end of the lake.
SO, maybe take a day trip there to fish but again, I wouldn't make it a destination lake based on my overall impression. And my overall impression of Brent is excellent. We caught three of the biggest walleyes I've ever caught in BWCA/Quetico in Brent.
