Just returned from an awesome trip to horseshoe and vista. As a long time rockwood customer I need to say that my experience with the new owners was flawless. The changes are subtle but needed. Carl and Stephanie are both awesome people. Carl your sense of humor and drive are infectious. Rockwood is in good hands. They are the best outfitter on the gunflint.

Did you stay on Vista.? We're heading that way and any info on campsites would be welcome.

I was there a few years ago. The Middle campsite going straight south is amazing. It is up on a hill, and has a great view of the lake. As there are only three campsites on the lake, I would highly recommend that site if it's available.

The downside, is when I was there on the second night of my stay, a group of at least 16 came in, and all camped on the southern site, and were quite loud. I actually canoed the distance my last night and asked them to quiet down.

Only one good site. The others are no good.

Hey Carl, I think you guys had a great first year. Keep it rolling. I look forward to seeing you guys again next year and renting a Northwind Solo from you if my solo trip brings me up the Gunflint Trail. At the end of August my wife and I found ourselves at Trail Center during our North Shore stay for our anniversary so we stopped by. You weren't around but we had a nice chat with Mike and I bought one of those wicking tshirts.

Thank you everyone! Yes, the first year was a blast. We sold some canoes over the winter and are adding a lot of new ones for 2017...including a Northwind Polaris, a bunch of tandems and 3 person, and another solo. We've increased our stock of Kevlar canoes so we'll have the one you want when you stop by. Ducks, we look forward to your visit soon!

Hey Carl...... little duckling and I look forward to breaking in that Polaris for you in a month. big duckling has a soccer game the night before we enter so we will be doing the old leave our house at 1:00 am and driving during the night trick. See you soon!!!

Makes for a long day the first day! Set up the campsite early and get a nap...see you next month!

Carl and Mike............ it was great seeing you guys again last week. Duckling, Echo, and I had an awesome trip even though that 1st day was exhausting....... left home at 2am after 3 hrs of sleep... 6hr drive..... 4 hrs of paddling/portaging and little duckling kept on trucking and didn't complain once. That Polaris is an outstanding canoe. Loved using it!

We are really hoping to see you in August this year!

Hope everyone can find time to visit us at the BWCA Expo on June 17th and 18th at the Seagull Landing on the Gunflint Trail. Lots of great things going on! I will have the Blue Canoe on display in Grand Marais on Saturday June 17th, hoping to convince people to drive the 55 miles up the gunflint to the BWCA Expo.

Stayed in the bunkhouse and rented a canoe from Rockwood last season. I have to agree the customer service is awesome. Everyone was very friendly and very helpful. I will definitely come back again.

Thanks! Glad to hear that you had a good time. We upgraded the bunkhouses this year - there's wifi (35meg!) , a USB charger, and new heaters in 2 of the 4 with THERMOSTATS!!! (okay, i'm little excited about the new heaters, sorry)

Oh, boy, I sure HOPE not! We have a Wisconsin vacation in July to do with our grandson first! :-)

10 days!!!!! Tomorrow is my last day of work until beginning of August . My tripping partner coaches a soccer camp or we would be there sooner!!!!

Can't wait to meet you. Had to cancel last summer's trip to Rockwood due to family stuff.
