I'm in the twin cities. I have a month until I start work and need some walking around money. Any good leads on temp jobs? Mowing lawns or something?

Hey lundojam...... I'm really excited for you and your wife on your new adventure that you are about to start. I'm anxious to hear how it goes for you and how you like the school district. As I stated when you first posted about your interview, I strongly considered applying for a 3rd grade position up there last summer. With our kids at ages 10 and 8 last summer we were not wiling to take that big of a chance on uprooting the family when we both have stable jobs. I think if our kids were out of the house we would have went for it.

Are you going to be at the elementary or ms/hs?

Did you check craigslist? I don't know how much you are looking for, but Aldi's and Burger King now hire for around 14$ a hour. I saw Fleet Farm is also hiring

I think if I worked at Fleet Farm it would be a net loss

I'd just ask to be paid in fishing lures and bags of nuts in order to cut out the middle man.

Do you know anybody with a contracting or construction business? They are usually looking for temporary help this time of year.

Thanks. Elementary. I'm excited as can be.
Thanks, guys. 14 an hour? I swore off food service about 30 years ago, but it is tempting...

you could move up to grand marais sooner, have multiple jobs around town before school starts, and get to know the peeps in town.

Well they don't get an employee discount unless you count 25% off of 2 pair black jeans, 1 pair black shorts, and 1 pair black shoes........

Boy, wish you were a youth worker. I'm trying to supervise our summer youth work program and I can't believe the stuff I have to listen to. In the middle of a painting job they ask what are we doing today? Painting! Painting what? The skating shack same as yesterday. But I'll be by myself. So? But it'll take longer. Augh! I can't start til noon. Ok, but it'll be hot. Noon comes... it's too hot! 72 degrees and there is shade to work in, but no.
