I take a roll with about 1/2" of tape left on a standard size roll--that's for the BW. I have only used a few strips for repairs in the BW in the past. I do put duct tape skid plates on the bow and stern before launch, add a fresh strip or two after a few days. If I was going someplace with significant white water I would probably take a much fuller roll. I am very weight conscious--something has to yield to the weight of the chair!

I bring about 10 feet of duct tape.

I wrap a few strands around a couple of Nalgene bottles. Never measured it; maybe 15 feet total?

I'm just trying to save enough weight for a butt pad, sunnybear - I must be getting old ;).

I just throw whatever is left over from a current roll into the pack. Never had to use it, but nice to have just in case.

I just bring a partial roll that I have. No idea how much is on there. I haven't used it on a trip yet, but last August it may have saved someone elses trip. When I got to the end of the portage to Polly there were 2 young guys sitting there having a smoke and trying to figure out what they were going to do about the hole they had just put in their aluminum canoe when one of them dropped it on the rocks. They acted like it was Christmas when I pulled the duct tape out of my pack.

In my experience, rewrapping doesn't harm the tape. I take 6-9ft. Never measured. If you have a repair requiring more than that, then a full repair kit with needle/thread, wire, cable ties, and some glue seems more space efficient and effective.

Me too. Never measured it, but try to take half a roll.

+1, except I HAVE used the duct tape on occasion. One time had it along with a few feet wrapped around a pencil. I guess I'm not that minimalist. That method seemed more of a hassle to prepare and use than it was worth.
