I've been largely absent from the board for quite some time, life got very busy and complicated in a lot of ways, but I'm checking in more regularly again. The point of this little ramble is to announce that I am retiring!! I've been working on the details for quite a while and finally filed all the paperwork last Friday. September 9th will be my last day on the job. Liz and I are moving from Washburn back to Deer River, MN, where we both grew up. It feels good to be going back home after all these years. Hope to be seeing some of you folks again, it's been a while.

Indeed. I plan on being there this fall. Ken told me to start practicing my perma-smile last spring. I think I've almost got it down!

Great to hear, Chuck! I do believe I referred to the grin in a derogatory manner. You'll know when ya get it!

Congratulations from Ak as well.

I recently started my inquires/paperwork for retiring from federal firefighting.
I plan on pulling the pin in about one year.
Let me know how that smile works, I may need some pointers.

Congrats!!!

So good to hear from you. Chip and I have been wondering how you and Liz are doing with the big life changes and move. We were hoping that you'd show up at one of Jerry's many northland gigs, we missed seeing you at Sawbill this year!

Hope to see both you and Liz soon. We won't make Wing Night this fall but will be meandering along the Gunflint Trail and staying at Gunflint Lodge over Labor Day weekend. If time permits and the spirit moves you to travel our way, let us know. It would be fun to plan a Trail Center Wing Night that weekend.
