(non-BW-related) i havent been able to get out fishing much-(job-legs/knees) but the kids(my son Dan-adam-george) have been out often in my boat, and keeping the freezer stocked. but they havent been able to hook into a quality pike. before we went out today i joked around and told the kids i'll have to show them what a quality pike looks like. BOOM ;) CPR 34"

Yeah, the markings struck me too. Is a northern that looks like that any type of noted sub-species?

no sub species , some what average looking pike for lake waconia. some pike will have a purpleish type hue, more on the face. minnesota(dnr) use to have a silverphase pike record but has been removed now for a decade or so. the removed record was out of disappointment lake.

thanks miss molly , your the best , as i've got older and have caught some quality pike in my life it's hard for me to put a pike over #8 under the knife , and boneless pike is great table fare...... still waiting for your next campfire story ;)

Thanks, shock. Did you weigh this 34" northern of yours? Looks similar in size to the 33" Jordon Lake pike I caught on last year's BWCA trip. We never weighed that fish but guessed the weight based on length and girth to be about 10.5 #'s.

^^^ pike are funny with actual weight vs length. this one we did do a very quick weigh and came up #7, taped her and released. i thought my scale might have been off with a quick weigh but the more i thought about it,,it wasnt as thick as this 1 i caught last fall(same lure mepps musky killer longer orange blade and black) and this was #9 CPR
