I am trying to determine good places to fish in the Ely area for smallmouth bass and I'm looking for moving water in the area. Creeks, rivers, water flowing out of a lake, water flowing into a lake.

Places like:

Burntside River flowing into Shagawa Lake
Shagawa Lake flowing out to Shagawa River
Kawishiwi river flowing into Farm Lake
Kawishiwi Falls flowing into Fall Lake
Newton Falls
Pipestone Falls
Prairie Portage Falls
Basswood River

Any other ideas of locations that I might be over looking in the Ely area that might be worth fishing for smallmouth bass in moving water areas?

Kawishiwi river flowing into Birch. (ONLY CAUGHT A FEW THERE FAST WATER . BUt I'm still exploring)

Shagawa river into Fall lake.

Fished the bottom of Kawishiwi falls one night leading into Fall Lake. Not a bite - but there sure were a lot of motor boats all camped out in the area. Leads me to believe it might be a hot-spot.

Boulder River between LLC and Agnes.

At the east or west end of Ima. ???

We had a blast fishing the Horse river between Horse Lake and Basswood. Caught lots of smallies out of the riffles - some chunkers, too, though nothing super huge.

I think it is considered more of a walleye spot than a smallmouth spot.

Newton Falls has some good smallies and the occasional walleye. Some of the smallies in there have a very odd red color to them. The one time I went up to Pipestone I found that it was too shallow in the moving water.
