I used the new ice shanty for the first time the other day. If you are not familiar it is a cabin style on a sled. It pulls very easy with gear...we have slickery ice and zero snow right now. I like the sliding bench seat and the padding is very comfortable. I will lube up the slides to make it easier to move. I am 5'10" and can almost stand straight up in it. It has plenty of length for two men or in my case myself and two boys. The canvas is solid as you would expect from Shappell and the set up literally take 5-10 seconds. It is great as you can easily move it around without taking it down. Plenty of light passes through the four removable windows and the buddy heater takes no time to heat it up as apposed to the flip over I was using. Due to it's 48" width short poles are necessary unless fishing by yourself. Also due to the width you better plan on hauling it with an Excursion, Pickup, or small trailer. It is not as heavy as it looks and I have a difficult time knowing how it weighs 85#. The single hatch on the bottom for holes is well built and accommodates four holes. The seat is high enough off the floor to accommodate 5 gallon buckets and plenty of gear. I will be mounting some LED strips so I don't have to night fish with a lantern. Due to the width a lantern could cause a problem. One of the unique features of this model is that it has a narrow electronics or whatever else you want to use it for shelf which situates over and above the holes. It is wide enough for your vex or marcum. I plan on finding a quad cover or something rather than buying one from Shappell...I am cheap and do not like spending money. So far so good.
