The BWCA.com member's dinner will again be held at Angelo's Italian Restaurant in Monona, Wisconsin. It will be held Saturday March 11th, 2017 during the 2017 Canoecopia weekend. I received confirmation from Angelo's today that the lower level has been reserved for us. I will post further details in the upcoming days and weeks, but it's much the same as it has been for the last several years.
Aside from indulging in some great food and drinks, it's a fantastic event to socialize with other BWCA.com members and to put a face with a name. Additionally, many canoe trips have been spawned at these dinners each year as well.
In order to make planning easier and to give Angelo's a realistic head count, please reply as soon as reasonably possible if you plan to attend and how many other family members or friends will be in your party.
Attendees have generally arrived around 6:30 PM with food being served around 7:00 PM. There is a full cash bar available to our group in the lower level as well.

One big "Attaboy", Mark... thank you for setting this up.
Debbie and I will be there.

I know one guy gets a room next door when he comes. I'm going to hit my brother in laws since my sister will be up here for a girls weekend."
We live 1 1/2 - 2 hours north of Madison. Pretty much the cut off for get a room or drive. As long as one of us (read me) doesn't drink we will just drive home. Or we could always crash with our son, BlueSkiesWI !
Don't worry Bryce. ?? Spending a Saturday night on the couch in a college house with a bunch of your drunk roommates is something I will try to avoid.

Sorry, wrong thread, I thought I was on a different one with a gathering. My bad.

Hello,
I am new to the bwca forums and will be going to Canoecopia for the first time this weekend. Can someone tell me more about this dinner? Is it a buffet style dinner? Or is it like a big room with a lot of tables and they come around and take your order?
Thanks

Assuming that it will be as in the past, it is a buffet. Several kinds of delicious pizza, a couple of pasta dishes, a big salad, and I think some bread. Lots of good food at a bargain price. Soft drinks included, and a cash bar.
Do come! It is sort of loud and enthusiastic with lots of conversation and usually good fun!

If some photos that have floated around the board are accurate, it seems that some folks end up sleeping on the floor of some hotel room or another after the party.... ;)

Here’s the break down on the bwca.com member’s dinner Saturday night at Angelo’s in Monona. I asked Patrick at Angelo’s about pricing for children. The following is a confirmation email from Angelo’s after I requested for confirmation and pricing details about our dinner reservation and costs.
"Hi Mark,
I am sorry we dropped the ball on getting back to you. The $15.00 per person is good, I will let Debbie know that I confirmed at that price, a small discount from our normal 15.95. I think 12 and under is fair, not too worried about it unless it was all 12 year olds!
I seem to recall that you guys did a little drinking so it all works out! All soft beverage is included: milk, soda, coffee, tea... our coffee is Keurig so it is made to order on cup at a time upstairs so don't be surprised if we don't mention it as an option, but it is available if someone asks.
Debbie will be serving you again this year and Tina will be behind the bar. You can make special pizza requests with them at any time. We will start with a variety of our most popular pizzas, including some basic ones for the kids. Debbie will make sure the buffet is full of pasta and pizza all night and it also includes salad and fresh baked French bread. I am going to pick up some cookies and brownies for dessert that we will put out as well for you as thanks for choosing us again.
If you have further questions my cell phone is 608-444-7220.
Thanks again,
Patrick

Prior to making the arrangements for the dinner, I spoke extensively to SunCatcher/Paul K. about the details. (Paul and AndySG had organized the dinner is past years.) Unbeknownst to me, Paul informed me that the original $15.00 price charged to those in attendance was just for the dinner. That did not cover stae taxes or tips for the servers. Paul went on to say that both him and AndySG “subsidized” the difference and paid the taxes and tips out of their pocket. No doubt it was very generous of Paul and Andy to do so.
That being said, because I am not a wealthy Nebraska land Baron like Paul or a member of Bloomington, Illinois’ elite like Andrew, I’m hoping to cover the costs of the entire dinner as much as possible. Paul suggested charging each adult member $20.00 would be more realistic if I wanted to cover the costs of the state tax and tips. Paul felt that $20.00 per adult was still reasonable and I tended to agreed.
If we do end up in the black after the dinner expenses are paid in full, I mentioned to Paul that any overage could be donated to the bwca.com to support the site. Paul also felt that would be a good course of action. I also intend to post the final expenses sometime next week after I have the final receipts from the dinner.
Finally, Adam, (the “man behind the curtain” and the developer of the bwca.com website), has generously donated items to be used as door prizes for those attending the dinner. Please see my wife or me to put your name in the hat for the drawing prior to the dinner.
Thanks Adam for the gifts and thank you bwca.com members.
BTW, I think most of you know my wife and I, but for those new to bwca.com, Canoecopia, the annual dinner at Angelo's, or for those that I haven’t personally met, I’ve included a few pictures below for identification purposes.
Look forward to seeing you all at Canoecopia and at Angelo’s.

Reading through my recent post about the dinner, I'm not sure I made it clear that kids 12 and under eat free. Although Patrick responded after a staff member and I negotiated the details of the dinner, I don't think the email response was clear to everyone although I was aware of the arrangement.

Can anyone give me and my daughter a ride home afterwards? My husband works at 8pm and the highschooler needs the other car. I'd like to stay longer than whatever time hubby has to leave for work. We live nearby, and I have walked there before but it's over a mile and will be cold and dark. :)
