So I have had a couple Old Town canoes in my life. A 16 foot Penobscot when younger, then a longer version when the kids were little. Now i'm looking for something to solo in, but have enough room for another person on occasion. Thinking the 14 foot Old Town Stillwater, or something similar. Trying to keep the budget down, but keep it around 60 lbs. Please let me know if you see something.

Just looking at the pictures it looks heavy. You might want to call wenonah canoe and ask them for any information they would have. That canoe looks like it's in good shape, and the price seems not to bad. FRED
Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fourtune to remember the ones do, and the eyesight to tell the differance.

"Said one of these men, long past seventy years of age: 'I could carry, paddle, walk and sing with any man I ever saw. I have been twenty-four years a canoe man, and forty-one years in service; no portage was ever too long for me. Fifty songs could I sing. I have saved the lives of ten voyageurs. Have had twelve wives and six running dogs. I spent all my money in pleasure. Were I young again, I should spend my life the same way over. There is no life so happy as a voyageur's life!'"

Back searching again. We had an agreement on the Heron. It was Royalex and 15 feet. I think he changed the price in the ad, and got calls at 850, so he backed out. The adventures of Craigslist. Didn't care about the paint job, but 14-15 feet and around 50 lbs is in the ballpark. There is a 14 foot Old Town stillwater that will be available in May also, but that is really getting wide.

Too bad the seller changed terms. Craisgslist sellers (and buyers!) can be hard to nail down.
For what it's worth Royalex is no longer available and the alternative T-formex will likely be as expensive as the last years of Royalex ($1700+ for new boats).
Any chance you can be first at the $850 price? Might be worth it as those don't turn up too often and you'd get on the water quick. Or maybe you'll find one worse for the wear at a better price down the line. That could take a while. Good luck with the search. I'll keep my eyes out.

Unfortunately, this guy did not seem reliable. I figure 650 was going to become 850, and then who knows. The boat hull was very clean, but thwarts etc.... seemed to need some work. Maybe for the best. Researching the old town osprey now. Wondering if the ability to row may be of interest to me on calm lakes. Or a kayak paddle from the middle seat.
