On the subject of entry 33, my question is on leaving gabro lake. Our qroup will be entering lake one and exiting from gabro lake.my question is how is the portage at little gabro lake and if we go north around to #32 south kawishiwi river how much time are we talking about for the day. Thanks for any info

The portage is about 200 rods. From the lake it's pretty rocky and rooty. The last 50 or so rods are up hill. It's no walk in the park but easily doable. I'm guessing that it would add 1-1.5 hours to exit from the river. If you have the time I'd exit from the river.

The EP 32 portage isn't quite as long as EP33 but it's more narrow, and a bit muddy in places so I'd say the difficulty factor is about the same. If it was me and I was starting the day on Gabbro, I'd go out EP33. If I was already on the river, I'd go down to EP32.

Agree with much that has been said. The portage out of 33 is more difficult than 32, but overall it would be easier and quicker to go out of 33 than 32 from Gabbro.

While harder, the Little Gabbro portage is also more scenic in my opinion as well.
