Our portage boots allow for installation of screw in metal studs that are very good on smooth slick smooth ledger rock fly fishing in MO/AR. However, my concern is the floor of my new Northstar Northwind Kevlar canoe. Will the studs damage the floor of my canoe?

I would think if rocks would scrape it, so would studs.

I think this would be a great idea for a charitable calendar. Think of all the money you'd be able to raise for a good cause. It could be the companion to the women in waders calendar.

I usually trip with 5 other ladies. A couple years ago we met a very handsome, shirtless man on the portage from Vista to Caribou. It was a Monday, so he is and will be eternally referred to as Man Candy Monday. I am the one with the yellow PFD on in the pic. Just checking out the scenery.

If this is you, please do not be offended. You made our day!

Just to keep this thread on topic, he has very nice "portage boots".

Glad I could make your Monday, and no I am not offended ;-) Just having trouble figuring out how I got there, I thought I was in AK all last summer.

If I'd known the BWCA was so stunning, I'd have quit Crown Land decades ago!

Not only would they be tough on a canoe floor. I never used them because I'd think they would be slick on rocks. Smooth rocks anyway. On the canoe floor it might depend on if you drag your feet and all while in the canoe.

Ben, Ben, Ben. You are, sometimes, far too literal. I think that when you and I and possibly Terry hit the Hunter's Island, we can create a "Studs in Portage Boots" collage that will allow us to retire while pumping money into whatever economy we choose. Just keep doing your push ups and burpies. All will be well.

You might consider these LL Bean Traction slip-ons as an option. I got these for Christmas and use them on snow and ice. They hold up under repeated daily walks on slippery surfaces, don't wear out (so far) as the Yaktrax pair(s) that I have gone through, and you can peel them off before climbing back into your boat. Just a thought.

I'm glad you are not upset that we completely hijacked your thread. But I really was hoping it was about something else. :)

I think your right Mark. I believe the last guys that could touch our caliber was Larry, Curly, and Moe.
