I realize this is a bit premature, but I'm thinking of a May trip into Quetico, and curious as to how the past few months and current conditions might shape things in canoe country for the upcoming open water season. Last May I went in with a fire ban already in place, which was a real bummer for the planned lake trout over a bed of coals. I'm hoping there isn't a repeat.

Predicting a fire ban in Quetico is like trying to predict 10-12" of snow in the metro. Plan your trip and have fun.

We're wet up here now, but things change a lot between now and may. I'd say there isn't a lot to worry about at this point... just plan your trip and go.... like said... and have fun. Lakers don't care how you fix them, haha.
