A Nice story last night on the news about a local Iowan canoe tripping in Northern Canada. He says in the segment that he is looking for people to go with him to the Barens this summer. We don't get many canoe stories down here. It was nice to see.

Yep, Vern gave a good talk at the Paddle Day (Indian Creek Nature Center) event at Cedar Rapids in January, also. He said he likes to get a travel group of 4 (2 tandems) for the dynamics and safety logistics on those trips.

I paddled with vern in Woodland Caribou. He was a lot of fun. Our mutual friend just told me vern retired recently. He told me he had a picture of my old dog in his office. If you can go, vern would be a good guy to go with.

Really enjoyed Vern's presentation in Cedar Rapids, too. Would really like to join one of his Canadian rivers trips in 2018.

Vern is a past participant from 2008 with The Wabakimi Project and in 2009 he contributed a report on the Little Savant River to aid in our mapping efforts in our Volume 2 Maps. He is regularly in contact with the project to exchange information. His efforts and contributions are appreciated.
