Thinking of buying the Boreal21. Looks compact and easy to set up. Does anyone have experience with this saw? Boreal21

Have not used one, so I can't speak to the cutting prowess, but have handled one. They are very well built and it's a great design.

This is the preferred saw for those in the know. And BWCA member Ragged makes sheaths for them. The saw and sheath are more effective, safer and less cost than any folding saw out there.

I think Mark (Frenchy19) and Ben (NCTRY) both have and love this saw, I'm sure they will be along shortly.

I'll shortly come along. Yes, great saw. They make an agressive blade for it and combined the next step up would be a chain saw. :)

I have the 15" Svensaw and have been coveting my buddies 21" Sven. I might just leapfrog and go for this fine looking implement.

The manufacturer donated one to the Wabakimi Project for use on our trips several years ago. I have not used it much but I know others like it. It is easy and quick to assemble and well built.

That one is a little big for my needs, looking for something that folds up to store easier. I will be using it when I go backpacking too. I have the Sven Saw, but the sharp edges and corners mean that I have to wrap it in something so it does not cut into the fabric. The Boreal seems to be easy to set up and I won't have to be so careful putting it in my pack.

I've had it on 5 or so trips and would speak highly of it. Well worth the price.

Hard to beat this one

But seriously, I got this 2 years ago and it's all I use now

I own one that is similar to this one. It's called the What a Saw. Has a similar swing out style of blade system to it. It comes with 4 blades, 2- wood, 1-metal, 1-bone blade. Otherwise I own a Sven saw 21 inch, a Fast Buck Saw and a Corona (like the one maxxbp has in the photo).

How big is this? I could come up with a guard for the cutting edge and stash it with the cutting board. I can't believe I never considered something so simple before. Cutting wood fast seems like one of the easiest shortcuts when setting up camp and getting dinner/lunch going. I probably never considered it just because it is a task we usually don't mind doing.
