I am planning on taking my two boys. I cannot book online due to not having "a minimum of two adults" What is the deal with this and what am I supposed to do? Thanks

Actually, pretty simple actually solution. Just go ahead and enter the minimum of 2 adult and 1 canoe, don't bother to list your kids.
When you pick up your permit, they will adjust the permit and fee to the actuality. I never put more than the minimum. I have an aversion to giving out my money until it is really necessary. The minimum will do just fine to make the reservation.

I would book it as just myself. When you pick up the permit, you can add the kids to pay for them and just head out for a great time.

For some reason the reservation system makes you put at least 2 adults and as others have stated you just change it when you pick up the permit.

For my solo trips I have to put 2 adults and then I get a $16 refund put on my card when I pick up the permit. When I do a daddy/daughter trip I have to put 2 adults and then I get an $8 refund put on my card when I pick up the permit and change 1 adult to a child.

Like a dozen other things on the reservation site, this is a step that ought to be spelled out much more clearly. If you can get the exact party size number down and paid for in January, hooray, but most group sizes wind up flexing a lot during the planning months. Why couldn't the site inform the online registrant up front:

"Payment will be collected at the time of reservation for a minimum of two non-discounted adults. Reconciliation of the exact payment amount will be made when picking up your permit. If modification of group size is needed at that time, it is helpful to bring to the issuing station the same credit card to which initial payment was charged."

Why can't this be changed so if you go in as a solo it can be set up that way from the start? Software that can't be updated or changed?
