Hi everyone! Looking for some fishing info if you have it. Heading in through Baker Lake, and most likely heading up to South Temperance. Or is the better bet going from Kelly toward burnt, smoke, etc. I plan on second week of July right now. Walleyes, and Smallmouth is what I am looking for mostly. I figure lakers will be a bit harder to come by in July, and pike are almost everywhere.

Thanks for the info!

I've been to this area quite a bit. I've had good luck with walleyes and small mouth on both Kelly and Jack. I've found that anywhere there's moving water there will be fish. I can personally guarantee there will be a small mouth in the current below the falls between Weird and Jack lakes. The Rapids between Jack and Kelly, and between Kelly and Pederson are good too. Haven't tried Burnt/Smoke yet.

RM

PS... The water just ABOVE the falls between Weird and Jack is very pikey. Cast from the rocks before you throw your boat in and disturb the water.

North Temperance is good for smallmouth. I had decent luck with walleye on South Temperance. The smallmouth fishing would have been much better if we had not gone during the spawn. I'm sure it would have been great on both lakes because of the great structure. On South Temperance the walleye are all over. I caught a 24" off the point between the bays leading to North Temperance and Brule. Trolling between the 3 islands in the center of the lake was decent, and we also caught a couple just south of the small island by the campsite in the north center of the lake. There is a drop off there where they seem to gather. Only downside we had was the smallmouth spawning like I mentioned.

Jigs and leeches worked well for us, but it was June. Rapalas worked too. If I were you, I'd find a nice relaxing spot and just enjoy the sunset bite.

Sounds like a good area overall. Anyone had any luck for size, or just has it been a ton of eaters? 24" wally sounds like a good time though :) Has anyone made it up to Cherokee? I've heard some promising reports from there.

24-25" was my biggest last year. I'm sure there are bigger. Easy area to catch fish. X2 what smokedwhitefish said. Can't help with Cherokee or Temperence.
