Good idea would be to create an account as a member (no cost or anything like that). You can then use the interactive maps on here and click on individual campsites to get information from user reviews etc... You could also use the search function on here to get a bunch of info.

Honestly, most of the campsites on Crooked are all pretty good. I am assuming you mean the larger Crooked lake in the BWCA next to Iron and LLC. I have not been to the Crooked lake on the east side, although, have heard good things about that lake as well. Fish the currents or find some underwater humps.

If you are entering Crooked via Iron Lake there is an island campsite dead ahead a few miles on the main basin where we have done very well from the shoreline for Walleyes in early June,

Camp in Thursday or Friday bays. Lots of great campsites and fishing.

Fishing the islands and points on most of the bays you'll find fish that time of year. If you have a depth finder and can find some sunken humps, you'll find fish.

A couple of great areas to fish are between on the North end of Thursday Bay. See map below (fish the white areas). Both sites on this island are great and even better since they're close to great fishing.

Yep, sorry, I should have clarified, but yes Walleye. In those same areas we have also caught SMB, Pike, and Crappie, but mostly Walleye.

It's a long ways in on day 1 via Mudro>Horse River. Basswood River, but it's worth it. We bust our butts the first day to get up there and then have an extra day to fish. We break the trip back into 2 days, generally camping around Lower Basswood area. If you have more days/nights it's not necessary to rush, but the last few years our trips have only been 3-4 nights. Outside of the fishing the trip up there is through some of my favorite areas and a nice combination of Lake and River paddling.

Angleworm is the shortest distance wise, but that portage to start the day makes it much slower than entering through Mudro.

I wish I was up there are that time too. That sounds like fun, stopping by your campsite and saying hi.
