Now with the DVD-exclusive BaseMap application, the Garmin Topo U.S. 100K Maps DVD lets you effortlessly download USGS topographic maps to your Garmin GPS receiver for any location in the country. BaseMap application allows you to view and manage waypoints routes and tracks on both your computer and GPS; includes 2D and 3D map views and elevation profiles. BaseMap features animated playback of routes and tracks, and allows you to easily organize and transfer trip data to and from your compatible device. BaseMap supports geotagging photos, enhanced printing and higher resolution images. Similar in format to USGS 1:100,000 scale on topographic paper maps, the detailed features include elevation contours, trails and more. Map names correspond to USGS map names for easy referencing from guidebooks; USGS trail names are also used to facilitate planning. Points of interest incorporate thematic icons for areas like parks, campgrounds, boat ramps, airports and others, making it easy to plan outings. Covers national, state and local parks, national and state forests, and national and state wilderness areas. Features interstate freeways, major highways, rural roads, trails, city neighborhood roads, railroads, power lines, borders and more. Searchable database of cities, geographic names, summits, lakes and more makes locating a special spot quick and easy. Summit locations display elevation information, which is handy for calibrating altimeters.
