Bottom line, it is simple and it works. Have brought this every trip so far. Plunge my water bottle into the cool water in the middle of a lake, drop this in and drink. When done, blow back into the straw to clear remaining water. Repeat as needed when thirsty. Also put the straw right into a stream and sucked up some water in pinch as well.


We also use a hand pump and pump water through it into a collapsible water container for use at camp. I like it for that versatility, to be able to filter water and have available at camp, and also bring it with while fishing in the canoe and be able to drink some fresh water from the lake and still run it through a filter.


So far I have bought a new one each year, but it would be nice to continue to use it from year to year. I am going to look into how to store it correctly and attempt to use a second year, that would boost the rating up for sure.
