MSR MiniWorks/WaterWorks EX Ceramic Element

I recently took this filter on its first trip to the BWCA. We had two pumps for these filters and had to pump water for 9 people! These filters did wonderful, they made the water taste great. I really like how they are 100% field maintenance capable. We all know the BWCA seems to be hard on most water filters. I would estimate that we pumped about 3 gal of water per pump before we had to remove the filter, scrub it lightly, rinse it and re assemble the pump. That took about 3 min. was a pretty simple task. After this, it seemed we had to clean it about every 1.5 gal. These are not great for a big group and i kinda new that. If you were to use a single pump on 2 people you could expect to clean the filter 1-2 times on a 7 day trip. If you were solo, i would think you could complete a 7 day trip with no maintenance. Was very great for collecting water while paddling. Would be a great combo if added with a gravity filter to have around camp. We did try the "using a coffee filter as a pre filter" trick and really never seemed to make a difference at all . Over all, i give this pump an A+. It did as it is supposed to and did it great. Very happy i purchased this product.
