Trip Introduction:
2007 was out initial foray into WCP and now we are to return. My brother Jim has joined Jeff, Gary, and I this trip. The three of us were here in 2007. Jim has been on BW trips with me and my kids, but this will be his 1st time in WCP. On the last trip we went into Leano Lake and headed NW to Mexican Hat, over to Agean Lake and back thru Paul. We are starting at Leano again but heading SW on the "Edge Route" following the south boundary of the park to Beaver lake, going north to the Talon River and returning to Leano. Renting Canoes and getting Routing info from Albert at Goldseekers again.

Travel to Red Lake. Met up with Gary and Jeff in the cities. Packed up and headed North. Made our usual Breakfast stop just before Cloquet. One unscheduled stop on the north edge of Cloquet to speak to one of Minnesota’s fine public servants and we were off to the border. And then we waited. Over an hour for the line to work thru but no problems with customs. Stopped in Dryden to pick up fishing license and outdoor card. Reached Red Lake late afternoon and met with Albert at Goldseekers. Tied the canoes down and went over the maps and our route. From there we headed to the self registration kiosk outside of the hospital for our permits. Checked into our room, had supper in “downtown Red Lake” and a couple of beers in the hotel bar.
