Trip Introduction:
I wanted to go back to the Quetico after a 19 year absence and introduce my now adult daughters to the park.
Day 1 of 10
Sunday, June 19, 2011 Woke up in the bunkhouse at Voyaguer outfitters. I was pretty sore after running Grandmas Marathon the day before but my girls were excited to go and a little jog back from the dock loosened me up. Towed out to the old customs station where a plane was waiting. Flew up to Beaverhouse in cool cloudy weather. Paddled away from the ranger station in our rented MNIII. Seems like a big stable boat. After carrying over to Quetico Lake we paddled completely around Eden Island looking for pictographs, but we did not located them. Camped in a bay most of the way to the east on Quetico at a nice underused site. Caught a fat walleye for dinner right in front of camp. Unbelievably fantastic to be back in Quetico. i feel like I am home again.
