Bear really knows his stuff- from experience. His early experiences winter camping- would have stopped most folks. He just came back from 24 days in the BWCAW. You learn alot from Bear.

Bear "hosts" a winter get together in the BWCA that looks like a lot of fun.

I guess he also brings groups of high school kids in on BWCA winter camping trips. He had lots of stories to share about those trips.

Went to see Bear Paulsen's winter camping seminar last night at Midwest Mountaineering. It was great to listen to him - you can tell he really loves winter camping and knows what he's talking about. Last night he discussed basic winter camping stuff - clothing, foot gear, sleeping gear, food, staying dry, hydrated, fed, safe and sound, and how to avoid and treat hypothermia. Next week, he's doing a followup discussion and talking about tents, sleds, skiing, snowshoeing, and winter camping in the BWCA.
