Before next season I have to remake and replace the false bottom in my woodstove, as well as making a baffle to try out.
Also, last fall I got the forms made for making some snowshoes, this year I need to make the snowshoes.

Anyone else have some work to do on their outfit before the snow flies again?

I've got a beaver pelt just itchin to be turned into a pair of mittens. Also have toyed with the idea of adding some sort of window to the door of my stove, but that may be beyond my reach. Not likely to start until August or September.

Arcola. Pulk verses toboggan. For group stuff hauling stove and tent and activities It fits better on a toboggan. Might be doing some more remote solo stuff this winter- more cold camping style so a Pulk may better fit my needs. Still have one from when CCS made pulks; the MN Lung Assoc used them in Yellowstone. Wish the poles were longer but I fixed that.

There in my experience has always a degradation of the ski track pulk or toboggan. If you are the last in line and it sets overnight it would be nice to have a set track. Maybe too much to ask for with new snows, blowing snow and so on . But a guy can dream eh?

Point taken. I may be trying the skis this winter instead of Slow Shoeing. My thought is two pulks would give me the ten feet of room one wants for all the gear and the versatility to use one of the two for fishing/ day trips, etal.

They are not needed Dan. Small skegs aft and high float makes for no ski track destruction to speak of. How'd you like the Toboggon vs. Pulk?

Are these going to be a new design, an update of your winter tents?

A new sled is in order, so I made a new mold.

Nothing that has to get done but I want to build a wannigan for my sled. I would only use it on shorter trips for weight reasons but it would be nice to have to some of my items that get smashed down when I lash my sled down. I am always trying to improve my packing and organization skills as I have learned a well packed sled pulls much easier through portages.

Let us know how the baffle turns out, I have always been curious to know how much of a difference they make.

I have a couple toboggan bags that I started last year, and need to complete. I am also going to rethink my wannigan/milk crate systems.
