Just an FYI for anyone camping in the BWCA, there will be a mid-January rain (yes rain) tonight and into early this weekend. I was at the end of the Gunflint trail yesterday and there was not much snow at all (in Grand Marais there was brown grass everywhere). I was doing some exploratory bushwhacking skiing near Seagull Lake and kept blasting rocks with my skis. Although there was certainly enough snow to pull a sled, I would either walk or snowshoe. You could still easily drive unplowed roads if you had a truck. Yet another wimpy winter.
