Looking for information on the entry and if parking is near by. Thanks.

I was at the YMCA camp (Dunord) a few weeks ago, (which is about a mile from Slim Lake entrance point) and asked (people who live there) if parking ok next to the Slim Lake entrance point. They said yes, on south side of the road cars are parked on regular basis. I checked out area and there is a plowed area that looked adequate for parking.

They plow the road a little wider at the North Arm boat launch, but there is really no off road parking unless you drive all the way to the North Arm Trails and ski back on Burntside to the portage (please don't pull sleds on the North Arm ski trails to Slim- it ruins the trails for everyone else).

it's an easy portage to slim. it's a nice weekend trip but the campsites are often full. take the first available site to avoid disappointment. the north arm trails are among the best in the state, spend some quiet time on the ridges and listen for wolves. i've been hiking these trails for years and will never tire of them.
