Jaywalker	11/12/2015 03:05PM   New toboggan progressing nicely. Ropes shown in photos were just tossed on so I could see what it looked like. They will all be taken off and redone this weekend when I finish sewing the lashing system. I'm going to use a tump from one of my old Duluth Packs, then the last step will be a black Cordura tank to wrap everything up neatly.
Doughboy12	11/14/2015 09:45AM   Looking good... Do you have a harness yet? I bought one of the Ice Castle ones last year from Cabelas. Never got a chance to use it but I did try it on and seems to me it will work perfect.
Jaywalker	11/14/2015 01:09PM   Thanks Doughboy, Im pleased and a little surprised it seems to have turned out this well so far. For my next trip I'll likely just try using a soft rope and tump line. If I end up wanting to go back to a harness I'll probably use what I've used before, which was two lengths of PVC pipe with carabiners that snap onto my Mountainsmith day pack. It's worked well enough for me in the past, but always open to new ideas. Meanwhile the lashing system is nearly complete - just need a couple cams to finish it off. Also will be using a tump from one of my Duluth packs.

I used a german army belt that I got at fleet farm for $5 as a harness last year, for skiing near my house. It worked OK since it has lots of little holes in it already, I just tied some metal rings to it with paracord. When I went to make a better harness, and priced out all the parts and running around - whew! I ended up buying a harness from skipulk.com. I think their budget version that I got wasn't so much different costwise than I figured I would have spent on my own.

I already had big roll of webbing, so the hardest part was just finding the 4 or 5 mm blue cord to match. If you can sew a 1 inch box with an X in it over and over again, you can make one. I wouldn't trust that stitching for a rock climbing harness, but more than enough for holding gear.
