It was great meeting you on Kawnipi! Wish we could have had more time to chat. Fishing was great for us, but the weather was lousy!

I was up your way last weekend picking up my daughter and friends at Camp Warren (half moon lake). What a pretty spot. We had to get back down to the cities --- bummer! Hated to leave.

Planning to do the loop in September. I'm allowing 15 days for it.
Looking forward to hearing more. Did you do much fishing along the way?

I did no fishing.

That's interesting, Mark. My thought is that the loop or circuit is whatever you want to make it. Yes, we'll have to work out something here in either July or August although my time is filliing up with work stuff for the end of the summer (which is a good thing). I very well may be out there in September on some shorter trips over the weekends but those may not be possible for those who teach!

Took 11 days, and for the most part, it was a wet, cold and windy trip. That is not a complaint...one of the highlights was seeing Wabbles on Kawnipi en route to the Poets chain. It was also sweet having dinner with Ben (nctry) and Bill (WHendrix) the night before putting in. Will be in Ely all day tomorrow if anyone is around!

Staying at VNO tonight, and Lynn is my new hero. I did not get off the water until 9, and everything in Ely was booked...but Lynn saved me from sleeping on the curb! Thanks, VNO!!!

Cool... welcome home Mark! You could have circled the loop another time before the weekend. Haha. Can't wait to hear about it.

I may sound like a complete newb by asking, but, what is the Hunter's Island loop? I've heard about this a lot, but never asked...

Good job Mark and welcome back. Wish I could have made it up there but work conspired against me. VNO is great. We are using them this Friday for our annual family 4th trip.

To anthonyp007: Check out the Chrismar Quetico planning map which gives the full overview of the park. The entire area bordered by the Maligne, Sturgeon, Poets Chain, Kawnipi/Falls Chain, Knife and BWood Lake is labelled "Hunters Island".

Kind of funny story. When I checked in at PP and told the guy my route, he said, "You know, since you're not doing the Knife, you're really not doing the Hunters loop." I just smiled and nodded my head.

Hope your trip is fun and safe! I also hope it warms and dries up a bit for you. We do need to paddle together sometime.

Great job Mark. It was really nice having dinner with you and Ben. Scott and I also had a windy wet trip but we were comfortable. The mosquitos were incredible and we spent a great deal of time in the Nemo Bugout.
