I usually rent an Iridium 9555 satellite phone and I rely on using the free text messaging, however, the last two trips, the Iridium phones did not receive text messages very well.
I noticed that it is much cheaper to rent an Inmarsat satellite phone and the Inmarsat uses a different technology for the text messaging. Inmarsat allows more characters and (I think, but I'm not sure) that if a text message doesn't go through the first time it keeps sending until the message is received .
Has anyone used an Inmarsat satellite phone and if you have, did the phone work well for voice and text messages?
