Kudos to you for the effort. Perhaps the FS got in there and moved or removed it.

Hey, OP here.
Thanks for taking a look, too bad the site was occupied. I wouldn't want to stay and bother too much either.

I may be back up that way before the snow flies, and I'll take a closer look if the site is open.

Perhaps it returned to its home planet?

I moved this discussion from the Trip Planning forum, as this board is more appropriate.

On Monday I ventured from Wood Lake to Good Lake to search for the mysterious item behind the northern campsite. As I arrived at the portage into Good, I found the campsite to be occupied by four men and four teenage girls, obviously a father-daughter trip. I approached and asked if I could search for this "thing" behind their camp. I had a picture so they knew (hopefully) that I wasn't doing anything sneaky. They said "OK" and I started bushwhacking. They were only modestly interested in what I was looking for.

Unfortunately, after about 45 minutes I couldn't find it. I probably didn't go east far enough, per the OP's instructions. And, to be honest, I felt a little pressured since there were campers at the site, and I didn't want to overstay my welcome. Lastly, it was very dense back there and with the summer vegetation I would have had to walk into it to find it.

Sorry, I tried. Maybe better luck in the fall?

Mike
