We had frost up there on Thursday or Friday morning. That knocked the skeets back significantly! Biting flies were a minimal problem while we were out.

I'm headed up in 5 days, just curious how the bugs have been?

We were up on Disappointment a week ago and the mosquitoes were still pretty thick at dusk. Had to deploy the Thermacell one night :)

My wife and I were on horseshoe lake on wed August 23 rd and encountered very few bugs! A comfortable day trip and my wife even saw her very first moose,a bull ! Now the Vikings are going to win the Super Bowl ! Have a bug free trip! Marc

I was also in the Caribou Horseshoe Gaskin vicinity off the Gunflint in the past week. Only issues were mosquitoes at dusk when the winds were still. Otherwise not bad at all.

Did the Granite River Loop from Magnetic Lake to Sag two weeks ago. Very few bugs around dusk, didn't even break out the deet. Excellent trip.

I got out on Wednesday....bugs came out for about 30 minutes around dusk, but other than that, they were no-shows. Pretty nice. I'm guessing with the cold temps up there they might be down even more.
