I was cruising up Hwy 53 today as I headed to Superior, WI on a business trip. About 20 miles south of Superior, I came up on a minivan with a canoe on top. (Certainly nothing out of the ordinary for this part of the country.) As I was about to pass, I noticed the BWCA.com Flying Moose decal on their Wenonah Champlain. Thinking that they'd probably stop in Superior for gas, I pulled in behind them and followed them into town.
Sure enough, they pulled into the big Holiday station so I stopped too. It was WoodsandWater (John) and his friend, Wes, from Michigan. They were headed to Ely and the Mudro entry point. We had a great visit. That Flying Moose decal was the entire reason we were able to connect. Pretty cool meeting them.

Great story, Pete.
Well, we were on 53 today, but heading south, with a canoe and car-top carrier both displaying the flying moose sticker. If anyone saw us, I would have hoped that they would have said 'Hi!'
This afternoon we will travel from Eau Claire to Chicago, and tomorrow back to Michigan. If you see us--wave! White Buick, green Northwind, black carrier!

If you ever see an Ohio license plate that reads " QUETICO ", that is me :) I'm sure there will be a beat up Wenonah Spirit 2 strapped to the top of the black Ford Escape.

Spartan,we ate at the trail center last Wednesday evening and noticed a white car and flying moose. We looked around but didn't want to ask everybody. Were you in the back room? We ate at the bar. Sorry to miss you! Marc

Pete, it was a great surprise and wonderful to meet you! Thanks for following and stopping to talk to us! We had a fantastic trip and we're blessed with perfect weather! Next time you and your Mrs. are in Michigan you are welcome to bunk a night or two with us in Pentwater! You would love it here along our Magnificent shoreline!

No, we were at the table right by the bar!! The one closest to the exit door! I wish you had said something! Two older folks with a lovely teenaged girl, I walk with a cane these days!
We would have enjoyed talking with you.
My husband says they should have a chalk board at Trail Center so BWCA.com folks can sign in and out and we can spot each other! In the future--just go ahead and ask everybody! ;-)
