Probably out of your way, but in WV I'd recommend Dolly Sods, Otter Creek, Cranberry Glades. |

quote Mocha: "do you have a mileage parameter for these trips? does it matter if it's weekend or mid-week? some places are better to hit mid-week to avoid huge crowds." There are no mileage or other parameters. These do not have to be canoe trips, several are hiking day trips and overnights. And obviously, a couple will be winter camping outings. Seney Wilderness will be a day biking trip and camping with the RV is an option, maybe at Sylvania. My May destination has become Lewis Fork Wilderness in Virginia. I can hike the Appalachian Trail and hit the highest spot on the trail in VA (working on a side goal to hike the highest spots on the AT in each state). Still looking for more Wilderness destinations, ideas and options. Thanks. |

My plan is to "visit a different wilderness area each month of the year". I would like to make them areas where I haven't already been. The partial, tentative plan so far is: Jan Whisker Lake Wilderness, Florence, WI (already been there) Feb open Mar Juniper Prairie Wilderness, Ocala, FL Apr Green Swamp Wilderness, FL (already been there) May KY or TN on return from Florida Jun Rainbow Lake Wilderness, Drummond, WI Jul Seney Wilderness, Seney, MI Aug Sylvania Wilderness, Watersmeet, MI (already been there) Sep Big Island Lake Wilderness, Stueben, MI (already been there) Oct Sturgeon River Gorge Wilderness, Sidnaw, MI Nov McCormack Wilderness, Michigamme, MI Dec Porcupine Lake Wilderness, Drummond, WI So I am looking for more ideas and alternatives on where to go around WI, MN, MI. Any suggestions are appreciated. |
