Amber & I talked about both things (2 above posts).

1. Must be some good fishing at the end of the falls. Most likely walleye & bass. Next time we go there, we'll be bringing fishing gear!

2. The paddle from the bridge to the start of the BW is quite a distance and I mentioned that if we had been so inclined, we could have motored up to that part! It doesn't say anything on the sign about no motors after this point like some other signs that are on the border but maybe that is only on places like Fall/Moose where it is starting in the BW and motorized and goes into non motor area?

The famous Bicycle and Hang Gliders sign. I assume you brought neither :-)

No hang glider & no bicycle, just one puppy that was still learning how to sit in one place. :-)

Always liked that area and done many of day trips there. Looks like a good water flow now.

I've done a few early year trips before ice out on the lakes on LIS south. Quite a few places along the river and around the falls for a camp.

I remember one trip where a solo guy was pulled up on the east side of the falls (across from the portage) camping with a square stern, motor, Coleman steelbelt cooler, 2 burner suitcase stove and assorted other heavy gear. I stopped to chat with him and enjoyed his company. He claimed he didn't realize motors were not allowed (he definitely knew and just was nervous about me being there) after which I told him "do what you want-you are the one that has to portage all that stuff." I continued on and camped near where Little Pony joins LIS. The next morning he motored by and was going to try to access Bootleg, I waved to get his attention to let him know Bootleg was still solid ice and he just kept going he said he was going to try to get to the camp on the north end of the lake. I guess he found out if he could access it or not-I packed up and went to camp above the falls that night.

LIS, Little Pony and that area are just pretty places that not very many go check out. Its usually pretty quiet back in there.
