Here is a DNR CO report today: CO Anthony Bermel (Babbitt) checked trout anglers, worked snowmobile enforcement, The trails took a beating from the weekend heat and heavy traffic. Slush is appearing all over now with some trout lakes having nearly a foot of slush in heavily fished areas.
Any first hand reports? Snow depths on land or on the ice?

Over the years it amazes me when water comes up thru the ice and creates the slush mesh created and how that white snow on top insulates the slush below from freezing. Snow can be a very good insulation.
The slush makes it bad no matter what type of recreation your doing. Just hope over time it freezes down.

I was in Ely area this weekend. Lots of snow and every lake had at least some slush. Some lakes were all slush. The snow is damp and makes for a nice packed trail on the way out.

That is what I like about winter skiing or camping,you usually have a nice hard packed trail coming out and it is much faster and easier. You can really move.

Last week I entered on Round, camped on Brant, and bushwacked to Blue Snow. Only had a tiny bit of slush on Edith one day - none on Brant, Round, or Blue Snow in 5 days. Exited on Thursday just as it was warming though. About 1.5 - 2.0 feet of snow in the woods.

Been that way many times,one of many favorites. Did drive on the road to the Round lake Access. Many years because of deep snow you park about 0.5 miles short.
Fished Blue-Snow once.
There was a time also there was always Moose tracks on Brant lake and the portages. So many ways to go. Toward Bat-Gillis or Fay etc.
