I am leaning towards coming out on Saturday evening with the family (I have Little League games that end Saturday afternoon.)

As a newbie, I have some questions. I see that there is no electricity.

Is there an outhouse or other bathroom facility?

Are there picnic tables?

Plenty of room for a six person tent?

Thanks"

There is an outhouse

Picnic tables yes tables are all on one cement slab

Plenty of room for 100 six person tents

Tony "

Correction: TWO outhouses! And he's not exaggerating on the 100 tents.

I just went to the doctor on Monday and he said that the one that they put in me two years ago is bad and needs replaced. So I am very discouraged, lucky if I can get out and even get a line this year.
Everyone have fun and enjoy the great weather this weekend and take lots of pictures and share them when you can.

Thanks again and everyone be safe and have fun."

Word of warning, if you plug in the Lithuanian Park address, it'll take you to the south end of Kishwaukee Forest Preserve. You'd have to bushwhack from there. It has been done but not recommended.

Best to GPS the fire station and go from there. I'll put a flying moose near the dead end so newbies will know they're on the right track.

Because it is considered a "usage stamp" and not a registration, Illinois wants out of state registered canoe users to purchase a stamp. The cost is $6 for the first 3 paddle craft and $3 for additional vessels.

The stamp can be purchased at any location that sells Illinois fishing licenses, such as bait shops, Walmart, sporting goods stores, etc. It is supposed to be affixed to the boat either inside or outside.

You will need the following information: Some sort of personal identification and Make, model, color and VIN # of your craft.

Would everyone who's attending this weekend please post and include the following info:
-how many in your group
-when you're rolling in
-do you need a boat or partner for Saturday's paddle on the Kish

for the newbs, how the paddle usually works is as soon as everybody's had their breakfast/coffee and time to lounge around a bit, we pack the boats up and head to the put-in around 10-11am. After the boats get back to the park (about a 2 hour float), food prep begins in earnest for the potluck and it's always quite a feast!

Should mention that donations to the Rockford Lithuanian Club for use of the park is greatly appreciated. There will be a plastic Folgers can labeled for donations.

Looks like we're gonna have great weather, looking forward to seeing everybody!

After everybody left and I got all my stuff taken down and loaded up, Gunner and I went down to the river to enjoy the beautiful day and contemplate life. He got in some high-quality river layin' (tried posting a pic but it wouldn't work)...anyway, what I ended up contemplating was what a great bunch of folks to spend a weekend outdoors with. My life is all the richer for getting the chance to know you all and hang out from time to time. Priceless.

Thanks everybody for coming this weekend, hope to see you again next year and July 28 at Paddlefest!

Hey George thanks for putting this shindig together. Had a great time, great food, great paddling, great weather. Had a good time visiting with old friends and meeting new ones.

Thanks to George! What a great venue for a bunch of canoe bums to gather at. Nice hanging out with old and new friends.

George,
Wow, what a great event! Thanks for putting it all together and being a great host. The venue, paddle, food and weather, could not have been nicer.

As a newbie I would like to say THANKS to the group, I couldn't have felt more welcomed. I look forward to growing the new friendships made for years to come.

Will see you at Paddle Fest!
Thanks
Frank

As a newbie, I was glad I made it to the event. It was nice meeting everyone.

There was in fact room for at least 100 six person tents.

George, my daughter mentioned that the songs around the camp fire was her favorite part of the camp out.

I decided to wet a line from the bank of the river before I hit the road. I managed to catch this river smallie:
