You will miss rush hour on both ends. From 9:00 AM to 2:30-3 PM there is little traffic through the city. This time of year there is very little road construction. Only a few bridges are being worked on and traffic flows freely.

Rush hour here is as mild as the wild! Haha... Seattle, LA, San Francisco..., Man, I could name many that make the cities look like nothing. But yeah, your timing should be good. Mndot may have info on their site of any work planned. I think it's pretty neat how GPS now guides you around stuff happening real time. Then all of the sudden it doesn't... Kinda the opposite. Haha.

I'm driving up just north of Minneapolis on Wednesday. Which route would be better, or should I say less headaches, from construction... 35 east or west?
I will arrive in town 11ish. And depart 2ish. On the return trip, I will be pulling a boat..
Thanks in advance..

What city exactly?

As far as construction is concerned, going northbound probably won’t make a difference until later in the year. Most of the current headache is in the Columbus/Forest Lake area where 35E and 35W reconnect.

I'd probably take 35E, but both should be clear that time of day.

Let Google maps decide at the time, it factors in traffic for you.

I'd agree with this assessment. I live in the southwest part of the metro. Whenever we leave later than 3PM, we know that we will be sitting in traffic or at least be slowed by it by a bout 30 minutes or more. You shouldn't have too much to contend with during those midday hours. When coming back, we usually hit traffic around the Cambridge to Forest Lake exits on 35W south around 4 or 5. Spring trips tend to be less of a problem as compared to july when traffic can back up as far as Beroun or Pine City.

Exactly. No need for guess work and hoping for the best.

I thought it was farther north, now that I look at it,I think 35w. Then I take 65 north to Rapid sports in Ham lake.
