I just went back and reread that sentence. Egad, it is a long one! But it says exactly what I meant to say so I guess I will leave it. Here in mid-Michigan the winter was very long and didn't seem to want to let go this year. It wasn't nearly as bad as northern Minnesota. We didn't have huge amounts of snow in the middle of April, but we did have cold temperatures, some snow, and many frosty mornings. My forsythia froze and didn't bloom. The flowering trees that usually bloom in April are just blooming now. And while I am not a "80-90 degree gal", preferring 70-80 myself. . .I am just so very, very happy to see green grass, spring flowers, and people walking around without parkas! I am not miserable in winter. I actually love living where we have the four seasons, although I wish our winter were a bit shorter. But I feel very blessed to enjoy winter, spring (especially spring!), summer and autumn every year. And I hope I will be around for quite a few more of each. I echo scat's words. Enjoy! Have a great weekend! |

The first time I went up to the BW we rented a cabin on Snowbank Lake. Wilderness Bay it’s called. They pick you up at the landing and the cabins are across the lake at the portage to ... Lake. Shucks can’t temember the name of it right now. Next lake over is Disappointment Lake. Parent Lake seems right. Somehow they have this one spot that isn’t in the BW, even though it’s completely surrounded by it. Pretty sweet. Anyway, the owner was telling me that they have a couple from Southern California that rents a cabin for a month every year. They don’t even fish. Their favorite thing was to witness the changing weather. They wanted to see storms come in and just have variety I guess. They were from the Midwest. In SoCal the weather is always the same, beautiful yeah, but unnatural to them. I have heard other people say the same since. I find that interesting. I gather we are blessed to be miserable half the year. Enjoy. Have a great weekend all you crazy canoe nuts! Cheers, BK |

scat: "Spartan2 - I am mellowing out. Trust me on that if you could. Just want to be happy, and that has been a struggle for a stretch. I’m too darn emotional, which is a curse. I couldn’t explain it if I tried. Peace and love and good times are ahead. This summer is going to be great. I hope your’s and all the great people on this great forum’s is too. Emotional is good. Most of us mellow at some point, lol. Peace and love and good times are ahead - YES YES YES to that!! I hope there's a breeze this weekend, cuz I prefer slightly cooler temps myself. If I am on the water I can handle it a bit hotter... |

We live right across the street from a high school football/soccer/la crosse field/track field. I love hearing the crowds cheer and the announcer spin! Happening right now... |

I never realized how pleasent 65 degree weather was until I moved to Alaska. I lived on the coast and it was always mid 60's in the summer south of Anchorage, I miss that weather. I got so used to it, that a lower 70 degree was terribly hot. I'm slowly acclimating to lower 70 degree heat again, hope I can handle the 90's, those will be tough :-( (if our weather was always 65 degrees and not have these extreems, we would live in the tropics and have tropical plants). SCAT, glad you are mellowing, either way you have always made me laugh, hope you have good health and following seas. |
