so why is it illegal? This is a glorified home video on a commercial free YouTube channel. Thanks it. Just two guys having fun
Thank you for your concern

I don't think you offended anybody, that's just a rule that hardly ever comes up and someone wanted you to be aware of it. It's not our rule, it's the Forest Service. If it's 2 guys putting stuff on Youtube I'd be super surprised if it was ever a problem.

PaddleIN: "Act 1, Scene 1, a calm, cool morning. A slight mist on the water. A canoe rounds a peninsula and quietly passes a large, hairy, naked man in 3ft of water, shampooing his hair. We were too dumfounded to even speak, plus we did not want him to turn and face us. He calmly strolled out of the water, into the woods, like I imagined a bigfoot encounter would end. (2007 on Insula)"
We’d have to find someone willing to recreate the scene. I don’t think I’d be too happy even filming. :0)
We want to do something about a Bigfoot. Ha!
Thanks

Looks like fun! Looking forward to the final results!
Of course, you know someone needs to get lost in the woods at some point in this film... :)

One day last year I rolled the canoe. Tim came to help me. When we finished cleaning up Tim’s canoe was floating down the lake. After the next portage the wind took my canoe flying down a hill and skipping happily thru the lake. You can’t make these things up. :0)

Hey Mike,

The first part turned out great, I love it.
It should all be fun. I can't wait to go back to the Boundary Waters. I sure miss the place when I'm gone.

I'd do it. I'm a big hairy guy, except for the top of my head. Butt maybe we should keep the movie "G Rated".

(And I would NEVER use soap or shampoo in the water...Leave No Trace rules)

We are putting all the things that have ever gone bad or wrong or funny into this movie. The reasoning behind making the movie to to show others that you don’t need to be this great adventurer to go to the BWCA. Shows that even if everything goes wrong it’s still worth going.
Go here to watch a teaser clip. If you all enjoy it please share with others and check back for updates. And if anyone has any ideas please let me know. We will hopefully be taking two trips this summer and should have lots of fun filming.
I’m also attaching the movie poster. And yes I know the license plate it wrong. There’s a reason behind it.
Thanks
Mike

Look up Cornhole's trip report from several years ago, and I think you will have all the material you need for more than one movie.

How about a scene where a couple macho dudes labor to double portage their stuff to the launch only to be passed by a couple of petite women who single portage and launch with no effort at all. Could be the story of taking the wrong trail or just haulin too much stuff. Or as was the truth, two women who knew how to get er done.

Ha! We should get a bunch of us BWCA.com members recreating some of their most memorable moments. Now that’s a movie
Or a book. We could put a book together. Each chapter could be a different members memory. Adam?

We nearly convinced a first timer, on one of our trips, that common courtesy or BWCA rules dictate that one must use a long stick to stir the toilet after a #2 in order for it to biodegrade. I think we blew it when we stressed the importance of not using the wrong end of somebody else's stir stick.

Another is forgetting to put sun screen on the thighs when paddling in shorts, I've seen far too many cooked lobster thighs.

Oh man that’s funny. I don’t think I could keep a straight face.

One scene has to include a pigeon carrying a bag of ice (or a tub of ice cream) in to a pig roast.

Now if you saw that happen in the bw I want to know what kind of whiskey you were drinking because Tim and I want to bring it with us on our next trip :0)

All that needs to be done to get an almost endless list of ideas is to do a search here. You could get so many ideas you would be into the tenth Sequel before you ran out of ideas.

Just FYI if you plan on making this a commercial investment (i.e) making any kind of money from the movie you better check with the USFS because it is most likely illegal.

Because special use permits for commercial activities, including movie making, are no longer being given out.

I don't remember who did it or how to locate it but the bear attack story on Lake 3 was pretty much everything that could go wrong.

I just spoke with Luke from the national forest and explained what we are doing and how we are putting our stuff up on our YouTube channel and he said we are fine. I better quick call the BBC now and tell them the deals off :0)
